Day One

So I'm terrible about taking pictures, scrapbooking, or videoing anything because, even though I know that life is hectic, I think I will remember all of the cute, quirky, funny things that life brings on a daily basis. Well, this is not the case. I can't even remember what I had for breakfast, muchless what I did during the Summer of '92. With the arrival of Miles (who is 6 months old today!), I've realized that life moves way too fast and if I don't start documenting it's all going to become a blur of distant memories. Hence, the blog. I don't know how often I'll blog since I'm notorious for setting ridiculous goals that are near impossible to achieve. But I'm going to try. Really try. I may even start taking some pictures and putting them on my blog. We'll see. Again, I'm trying to be realistic.

Last night was a rough night. We're leaving for Disney in 2 days and Jack is getting very excited. Because of this excitement he's extremely hyper and doesn't want to sleep...at all. Miles went to bed at 7:30. Jackson (and all of his excitement) finally went to bed at 9:30. I then attempted to start gathering some things to pack for our trip. It didn't go very well since I'm a huge procrastinator and, even though I'm trying to trick my brain into believing that packing ahead of time is a good idea, my brain knows better and remembers that we still have a couple of days before packing must absolutely happen. After a mere 30 minutes I decided I was done with the whole packing thing. I was planning on watching some TV and procrastinating some more, but Miles decided to wake up at 10:30 to eat which isn't typical, but since he's only 6 months old I don't really know what "typical" is. After feeding Miles I went to bed at around midnight. Then Miles woke up at 1:30, 3:00 and 4:30. Jackson woke up at 3:30 and 6:45. As you can see, there wasn't a lot of sleep happening last night. I keep trying to remind myself that in 12-15 years when they don't need me anymore I'll be missing this time, but last night was tough to say the least.

Since I was up all night I had plenty of time to obsess about why Miles was waking up so much and came to the conclusion that he absolutely must have an ear infection and I must take him to the doctor first thing in the morning. I knew Jack was waking up from excitement, but since M doesn't have a clue about the trip I assumed he was sick (although he is completely happy and content as always). Gene dropped him off at daycare this morning and I was able to get him a doc appointment early this afternoon. To make a very long story short, he's 100% completely fine. Doc assessed it's just a growth spurt. I can't believe I just paid someone $20 to tell me my kid is growing. How embarrassing! Oh, and did I mention that while we were at the doc this happy, growing baby puked all over my work pants? So not only did I just have to leave the office for 2 1/2 hours and pay someone to tell me my kid is fine, I have to now sit at work for the rest of the day with dried baby vomit on my pants. (BTW, if I was a good blogger I'd actually post a pic of the baby puke on my pants!)

Good times.
